Born in Zadar, Croatia. Although deeply passionate about medicine, my first love has always been mathematics — especially statistics and probability.
Due to the extreme demands of medicine, that passion remained dormant until I was introduced to the greatest software program in the world approximately 20 years ago: Microsoft Excel. Through the years I became quite adroit in its use, and began combining my love of sports with statistical analysis.
The Passion
Combining a love of sports — soccer, football, basketball, and thoroughbred racing — with deep statistical analysis using Excel.
The Discovery
Introduction to neural networks and genetic algorithms revealed the potential to analyze vast amounts of accrued sports data.
The Challenge
Predicting outcomes proved to be a very arduous task, requiring years of persistence and experimentation.
The Result
Years of work led to a concept that is both logical and simple, yet predicts outcomes quite admirably. And there the saga begins...
Chess
My father introduced me to chess when I was 9 years old and I immediately fell in love with it. During medical school there was simply no time for serious chess but it has remained a lifelong hobby.
Here is one of my Chess Problems published in the "Šahovski Glasnik" in July of 1982:
